LONDON: European Union to secure “assurances” for parliament on Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal will take time, with a decision expected in the New Year, British trade minister Liam Fox said on Sunday talks.

It came as Dr Fox also set out arguments against a second referendum following reports that members of the Cabinet have discussed such a vote.

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr show, Dr Fox said there was a "constitutional issue" with holding another vote on Brexit.

"It will happen over Christmas, it's not going to happen this week, it's not going to be quick, it will happen sometime in the New Year."
