The toll of Computer teachers and lab assistants getting hurt while protesting against the Haryana Government for not fulfilling their demands has reached 40 in last 20 days. It is for the third time in past month that the protesting teachers had to witnesses the callous attitude of Haryana government and the Police. On June 13, 7 more teachers were injured as the police used water cannons on them. The protesting computer teachers and lab assistants marched towards Siksha Sadan in Sector 5, Panchkula.

As a matter of fact, the indefinite protest by the teachers is now turning into people’s movement. The protesters have been demanding a hike in salaries, as promised by the government. They also demanded salaries during the winter and summer vacation and for the women staff who go on maternity leave. The protesters alleged that in December last year, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had agreed to accept their demands including increase in salary and protecting their jobs, but months have passed and no action has been taken.

It seems like Haryana Government has decided to stay tight lipped and not to say anything about the plight of teachers and to consider their demands.
