Education Department agrees to regularize SSA teachers, lends no ear to the plight of non teaching workers

While Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and RMSA Contractual teachers have been on strike from the past years, the non- teaching Administrative workers those who have been working from past 14 years also came forward with their demands. In the latest development the SSA Contractual Employees Union met Punjab Education Minister OP Soni in order to forward the demand of regularisation of contractual employees.

The secretary general of the contractual employees union, Ashish Julaha along with others including Harpreet Singh, Chamkaur Singh, Rajinder Singh, Davinder Singh met Education Minister OP Soni in Chandigarh. The Employees asserted that the contractual employees are working with SSA since last 14 years.

“Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh promised to regularise our services immediately after coming to power, but almost three months have passed and the government has done nothing,” said Ashish Julaha. He further said the earlier the government made promises and now it is retracing on them. The Contractual employees union has now decided to go on protest on June 15.
