FOOTBALL- Real Madrid has named Spain manager Julen Lopetegui as their new head coach on a three year deal. He will take up the position after the conclusion of the 2018 FIFA World Cup which starts tomorrow.

Lopetegui has been Spanish national side’s manager since July 2016. His appointment has cast serious doubts over the futures of both David de Gea and Gareth Bale. Real Madrid has agreed to pay the Spanish FA £1.75m in compensation for Lopetegui.

Zinedine Zidane stepped down from managerial duty in May saying the club needs a different voice.

The shocking announcement has put Spain’s preparation for the World Cup in a disarray.
