Mithali Raj leaves Virat Kohli behind, becomes first Indian to score 2,000 T20I runs

CRICKET- Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj scored 23 runs during India’s win over Sri Lanka on Thursday to become the first Indian cricketer to score 2,000 runs in Twenty20 International.

The Indian eves registered a seven wicket win over Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup T20.

Mithali, 35, now has 2,015 runs in 75 matches.

Overall she is the seventh woman to reach 2,000-runs. Charlotte Edwards (2,605), Stafanie Taylor (2,582) and Suzie Bates (2,515) all are ahead of her.

Interestingly Indian men’s team captain Virat Kohli (1,983), Rohit Sharma (1,852), Suresh Raina (1,499) have not achieved the feat yet.

ICC and BCCI have congratulated Mithali on her wonderful achievement.
