The practice of involving children in the supply of various kinds of drugs is rampant in almost all areas of the country. Also, it has been reported that some of the peddlers, who are in the drug trade for a long time, are using their wards for supplying drugs. A similar case came out in which Chandigarh Police has arrested a 16 year old girl for allegedly supplying 30 injections of Buprenorphine and Pheniramine Maleate.
As per the reports, the girl is a drop out from school. She was caught with carry bags carrying injections near Sector 25 Chandigarh. Also, the reports say that the mother of the girl is an identified drug peddler and she has been convicted twice in drug peddling cases. Meanwhile the girl has been sent to Sector 25 Juvenile Home.
It shall also be noted that cracking the drug peddling cases, the local Court has sentenced two accused to 10-year imprisonment in a case related to NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The convicts were held by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths with 3.09 kilogramme of charas in 2016.
