No community can survive without respecting its culture and ethics and keeping in mind the promotion of anti social and vulgar culture in the state in the past years, Punjab Government led by Captain Amarinder Singh has decided to set up a Cultural Commission that will work in coordination with the Cultural Parliament of Punjab. The Commission will aim to abandon the issue of vulgar and anti social culture persisting in the state.

The Commission will be headed by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh with Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu as its Vice Chairman. The Cultural Commission will have all the power to register an FIR against the defaulters who try to promote such anti social culture in the State.

The decision has also been hailed by Panditrao Dharennavar, Professor in sociology at Government College, Sector 46 Chandigarh, who has been protesting against the songs promoting guns, liquor and vulgarity at Punjabi weddings and other events. It shall be noted that Prof Dharennavar has already filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against songs promoting guns, liquor and vulgar dance after 10 pm by DJs.
