7.3 magnitude earthquake strikes Peru

LIMA- An earthquake of the magnitude 7.3 struck Peruvian coast on Sunday, about 124km southwest of Puquio, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Officials in Peru said there is a tsunami alert for areas within a 300km radius of the earthquake.

Peru is located in the Ring of Fire, an area in the Pacific Ocean prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
