Celebrating the essence of festival with elderly, Young volunteers visit Old age home

Chandigarh youth celebrated the festival of Lohri by bringing a little smile on the faces of elderly. Lighting up the spirits of the inmates of old age home, the volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan celebrated Lohri with the inmates of sector 15 old age home Chandigarh. The students entertained the elderly by singing old classical songs, dances and cracking jokes. The inmates also participated by singing gazals and songs.

Paramjeet Singh, District Youth Coordinator at Nehru Yuva Sangathan was also present and enjoyed the festival with full fervour. Along with this, the Volunteers from Legal Service Authority of Chandigarh were also seen adding life to the celebrations. The Member Secretary, Legal Service Authority Justice Mahavir Singh (Additional District and Session Judge) was also present there celebrating Lohri with Youth and Elderly.    

Vaibhav Gupta, Volunteer at Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan asserted that they always try their best to celebrate the festivals with elderly.He said that the volunteers keep on visiting the Old age home and celebrate various events here. The Youth along with the elderly danced on the beat of Dhol and also the traditional Bonfire was lit and rewri, peanuts (mungfali) were distributed. Tranditional Lohri songs were sung by the senior citizens and there was the essence of festivity all around.
