Canadian police are probing an alleged hate attack against a young girl whose hijab was cut off by a man with a pair of scissors.
Khawlah Noman, 11, was walking to school with her brother in Toronto when a man came up behind her with scissors.
Noman said that she screamed and her attacker ran, only to return, pull off her hood and cut her hijab.
Police describe the assailant as an Asian man, 20-30 years old, between 5ft 7in and 5ft 8in, with a thin build.
Khawlah sent a message to her assailant during a press conference on Friday at Pauline Johnson Junior Public School.
"What you're doing is really wrong," the girl said, "you should not act like this, and especially, I'm a kid."
