Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has been accused for not doing anything substantial as far as the needs and the basic requirements of tricity are concerned. Although, the civic body has been suffering from severe financial crisis, but there has been no substantial proof of MC has been able to do anything as far as the primary Education is concerned.

Now, when the poor infrastructural facilities at schools are seen, MC is being held responsible for all the poor management. As per the latest reports, the civic body has spent hardly Rs 1 Lakh from the Rs 5 crore budget allocated for the infrastructural development of schools. It is notable to mention that around Rs 339 crore were allocated for the development work and MC has spent only Rs 148 crores.

The financial crisis emerged out of the lesser grant provided to the MC by Chandigarh Administration. The civic body got a grant-in-aid of Rs 269 crore from the administration. MC commissioner Jitender Yadav asserted that the developmental works were undertaken as per the grant in aid.
