Rejuvenating youth through Surya Namaskara on Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary

Panjab University Chandigarh, on the occasion of 155th birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, in Collaboration with Vivekananda Kendra and Youth for Seva organised Surya Namaskar session in order to empower and rejuvenate youth for the better and healthier life style. The session was headed by former MP Satyapal Jain, who is also the member of Law Commission, he inspired youth to keep their mind and body healthy by exercising.

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies was the key department that organised the event. The departmental faculty along with hundreds of students paid homage to one of the world’s greatest spiritual leaders of 19th century. Swami Vivekananda birth anniversary is observed as Swami Vivekananda Jayanti every year on Jan 12. Since 1985, the day is also celebrated as National Youth Day. It is pertinent to mention that he was a chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna.

Various professors from university including Ashu Pratap and Ravinder Kumar guided the participants in performing the different postures while focussing on breath with chanting of mantra. It shall be noted that the celebrations in this regard were made throughout the nation. PM Modi has also paid homage to the great soul and lauded his contribution as a spiritual and political leader of the masses.
