The much hyped stalking case of Disc Jockey Varnika Kundu took a major turn today when Punjab and Haryana High Court granted bail to the accused Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP President. Justice Lisa Gill, has granted bail to the accused Vikas Barala and his friend Ashish Kumar on the grounds that made it clear that Vikas, being the son of Political veteran will not try to influence the trial and would not make any attempt to contact the victim or her family.

Deepanshu Mehta, Associate of Senior Advocate & Barala’s Counsel Vinod Ghai asserted that the case is being tried by the magistrate's court. He further expounded that the counsel had argued that the accused was behind bars for around five months, and the statement of the victim has already been recorded. Thus, he deserved to be released on bail.

The decision has been taken just a day after the cross examination of Varnika was conducted. It is pertinent to mention that the accused was behind the bars from last five months and his bail plea had been rejected four times. The case dates back to August 5, when Vikas Barala and his friend followed Varnika Kundu and subsequently got arrested by the Chandigarh Police in stalking case. Both were booked under section 354 D (stalking) of the IPC and under the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act.
