All India Inter University championships, PU sportspersons shine bright

The opening day of the All India Inter University Judo (Men) Championship marked great victory for Panjab University Chandigarh. PU Judokas Sunil Kumar and Amit Dhull emerged champions on the first day of the Championship in different categories. Around 111 universities from different states across the country are participating in the championship.

It is notable to mention that in 90 kg category. Sunil Kumar from PU beat Ashish Malik of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak and in 100 kg category Amit Dhull of Panjab University beat Ajay of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science & Technology Hisar.

This year Punjab University has been given the responsibility to conduct Inter University competitions for the session 2017-18 by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. As per the list of events, PU is conducting Judo (Men) Championship from January 9 to 11. Along with this, PU will be conducting Track Cycling, Power lifting (M&W), Rowing (M&W) and Golf in the month of February and March.

It shall also be noted that in the 2nd India inter-University Roll Ball championship (women category) that was was held in Jammu University from 3rd January to 7th January 2018. A total of 23 Universities participated in the competition, out of which PU team secured 2nd position for their magnificent performance in the competition.
