HOLLYWOOD- French actress Catherine Deneuve has come in support of men amid the recent sexual harassment scandals in Hollywood.
Deneuve along with 99 other well known French women has written an open letter that warns about a new 'puritanism'.
Published in France's Le Monde newspaper on Tuesday, the letter reads, "Men have been punished summarily, forced out of their jobs when all they did was touch someone's knee or try to steal a kiss.
"Rape is a crime, but trying to seduce someone, even persistently or clumsily, is not - and nor is men being gentlemanly a chauvinist attack."
"As women we do not recognise ourselves in this feminism, which beyond denouncing the abuse of power, takes on a hatred of men and of sexuality."
The women did recognise the need to speak against abuse of power by men but feel the constant denunciations are reaching out of control.
