Finally the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) is all set to start the registration of privately owned vehicles at dealers’ point in the coming week. In the beginning, the RLA has finalised the names of four automobile dealers to run a pilot project. For this purpose, Saluja Ford and Harbir Automobile would start registration for four-wheelers while for the registration of two wheelers, Charisma God wheels and Platinum Honda would start registration initially.
The new procedure that will be implemented in the coming days in tricity, would finish off the hassle that a common man endures at the hands of registration authorities by first buying the file, furnishing the documents and then waiting for the Registration Certificate (RC) where delays usually take place.
The process of registering vehicles at dealers’ point will also bring about a transparency in the entire system and it will weed out corruption as menace of agents has always been there. It has also been decided that the training to automobile dealers regarding the registration of vehicles will be given by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
It is pertinent to mention that neighbouring state Haryana has already the similar process in 2016.
