City based DAV College at Sector 10 lost its one of the renowned lecturer, Rohit Phutela (37) as he met with a fatal accident after his two wheeler got unbalanced and eventually hit the divider. The incident happened at the road separating Sectors 41 and 42 on January 9. The cause of death is the head injury sustained after falling on the road. Though the victim was taken to the Government Multi Specialty hospital (GMSH sector 16), but he was declared brought dead by the doctors there.
Amid this, the teachers and students mourned the sad demise of their faculty member. Also, the DAV College Teachers’ Union decided to help the family of the victim wherein a circular has been issued in which all teachers are requested to donate their one day’s salary to the victim’s family.
It is notable to mention that Phutela hailed from Sirsa, Haryana and was an Assistant Professor at the Department of English, DAV College, Sector 10 Chandigarh. Before this, Phutela had also taught as an Assistant Professor at DAVIET Jalandhar. Presently he was putting up at Phase VII, Mohali. He is survived by his parents, wife and a four year old son.
