TECHNOLOGY- Germany has started the enforcement of a new law that pressurizes social media sites to act quickly to remove hate speech, fake news and illegal material.

The sites who fail to follow the law and do not remove the illegal posts will be fined  up to 50m euro (£44.3m).

As per the law, a network had to take action within 24 hours after being informed about any illegal material on their site.

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Tumblr, Russian social network VK, Vimeo and Flickr all will be affected by the law.
