4 year old case, Court held nine accused guilty of Advocate’s Murder

The local Court and Session Judge Archna Puri awarded life imprisonment to nine major accused for murdering a city based advocate Amarpreet Singh, who was an aspiring criminal lawyer. The District Court has sentenced the accused namely Dharminder Singh, Rajat Sharma, Jaswinder Singh Khattu, Sunil Bhanot, Sunvir Singh, his Uncle Onkar Singh, Kevin Sushant, Deepak Kaushal and Vishal Sharawat under Sections 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC along with fine of Rs 50,000 each.

The accused have also been convicted under Sections 506 and 148 and have been awarded a jail term of five years and two years, respectively. Dharminder Singh, the prime accused who had shot the victim has been convicted under Section 302 while rest of the accused have been convicted under Section 302 with Section 149 of the IPC. All the accused have been sent to Nabha jail.

The case dates back to February 27, 2013. The tiff emerged when one of the accused Deepak Kaushal had parked his car outside Amarjeet’s aka Lucky’s house and the latter objected. Deepak later on came with his friend Dharminder (the other accused and shot the advocate).
