In today’s world, when family and personal disputes and the corporate disputes are on rise, dispute settlement plays an important role in law and the budding lawyers need to have a deeper view of how to resolve the dispute through mutual agreements between the two parties. Keeping in view the importance of mediation in dispute resolution, University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University in collaboration with Mediation and Conciliation Committee of Honourable Punjab and Haryana High Court organized Mediation Awareness Programme at Moot Court Hall, UILS PU.
The keynote speaker was Additional District and Session Judge and Director of Mediation and Conciliation Committee, Punjab and Haryana High Court, B.B.S. Teji who created awareness regarding the importance of mediation over adversarial process of dispute resolution. The event also witnessed the presence and address by the trained and experienced mediators including Reeta Kohli, Puneeta Sethi, Dhiraj Chawla and Sachin Jain. The Senior Advocates discussed various aspects of mediation and the practical implications of the process of dispute resolution.
Basically, Mediation is a dynamic, structured, interactive process where a neutral third party assists disputing parties in resolving conflict through the use of specialized communication and negotiation techniques.
