BADMINTON- Indian Rio Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu failed to capitalize on her winning momentum and lost to Akane Yamaguchi in straight sets on Sunday, thus settling for a silver in the Indonesia Open final.
Sindhu lost in straight sets 15-21, 16-21 in 51 minutes in Jakarta on Sunday.
After the title loss, Sindhu rued her mistakes and blamed herself for the number of basic errors she made.
"I think I made errors and I was hitting a bit with the frame. She (Yamaguchi) plays differently to Okuhara, of course there are long rallies still but she plays faster. We were in control of the shuttle and we were equal but then I made a few mistakes and it went wrong from my end," Sindhu admitted after the match.
Sindhu will have to up her game if she wants to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
