HOLLYWOOD- US actor Rip Torn, known for his role of Zed in Men in Black, has died at the age of 88. He passed away on July 9 at his home in Lakeville, Connecticut. No cause of death has been shared by his family.
In his seven decades long career, Torn whose full name is Elmore Rual Torn Jr won an Emmy for The Larry Sanders Show and an Oscar nomination for 1983 drama Cross Creek.
Hollywood film fraternity took to social media to pay tribute to Rip. Will Smith shared a picture from the first Men in Black film while Fantasy writer Neil Gaiman and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane paid Twitter tributes.
Torn is survived by his third wife, actress Amy Wright, with whom he had two children. He was earlier married to actress Geraldine Page (1963-87) and Ann Wedgeworth (1956-61). In total he had six children.
