Wolf of Wall Street Producer Riza Aziz arrested for money laundering

MALAYSIA- Riza Aziz, Hollywood producer and stepson of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, has been arrested in Malaysia on suspicion of money laundering.

US prosecutors have accused Mr Aziz's production company, Red Granite, of misappropriating money from a multi-billion dollar state fund to finance the film Wolf of Wall Street.

He faces more than 40 charges and is accused of pocketing $681m (£540m) from the state fund 1MDB, short for 1Malaysia Development Berhad.

Mr Aziz has been detained in Malaysia and will appear in court on Friday to face charges.

His wife Rosmah Mansor has also been charged with money laundering and tax evasion. Both of them have denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty.
