TENNIS- Austrian Dominic Thiem has taken the first step to end misunderstanding with American star Serena Williams and has offered to partner with her in mixed doubles at Wimbledon or the US Open.
The misunderstanding occurred between the two when Thiem was asked to make way for Williams at a post-match news conference following her third round defeat in the first week of French Open.
Thiem at that time accused Serena of showing “bad personality” and treating him like “a junior”.
On Tuesday, Thiem told reporters, “In retrospect, it was funny that such an organisational mistake happened at a Grand Slam tournament. What I do not understand is that it blew up so much.
”I would like to make amends with her in Wimbledon or the U.S. Open mixed doubles.”
Serena’s reaction to the incident and response to Thiem’s offer is still awaited.
