Grammy winning singer Dr John dies aged 77

MUSIC- American singer Malcolm John Rebennack, Jr, known as Dr John has died at the age of 77. He passed away on Thursday after suffering a heart attack.

A statement on his official Twitter account said, “The musician created a unique blend of music which carried his hometown, New Orleans, at its heart, as it was always in his heart.”

The statement further asked for the family’s privacy to be honoured. Memorial arrangements will be announced in due course.

The six time Grammy winner was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. Tributes have poured in paying respects to Dr John.
