French Open: Tsitsipas enters last 16, First Greek in 83 years to reach the milestone

TENNIS- Greek youngster Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the last 16 of French Open on Saturday after beating Serbia’s Philip Krajinovic 7-5, 6-3, 6-7 (5/7), 7-6 (8/6).

The match was suspended at 5-5 in the third set on Friday night due to darkness and was resumed on Saturday morning.

Tsitsipas has become the first Greek player in 83 years to reach the last 16 of French Open. The last Greek player to reach the second week at Roland Garros was Lazaros Stalios in 1936.

20 year old Tsitsipas will next take on former champion Stan Wawrinka on Sunday who entered the last 16 with a 7-6(5), 7-6(4), 7-6(8) win over close friend Grigor Dimitrov.
