BUDAPEST- A boat identified as Hableany (Mermaid) capsized on the Danube River in Hungary’s capital Budapest on Wednesday killing seven South Korean tourists.

There were 30 tourists, 3 tour guides and 2 Hungarian crew members on the boat when it was hit by another vessel at about 22:00 local time (20:00 GMT) on Wednesday.

Rescue efforts are still underway and seven people have been saved. 19 are still missing. Chances of finding the survivors are looking bleak as heavy rainfall and strong currents are hampering the rescue efforts.

South Korea's foreign ministry has confirmed that 7 of its citizens have died in the accident. The Korean government is sending a team to Hungary to assist the families of the victims and provide them counselling.
