TV- Author George RR Martin on whose novel A Song of Ice and Fire HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones is based has shared his feelings on a personal blog now that the series has come to an end.
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones concluded on Sunday, May 20. The season attracted maximum viewers but left many unsatisfied with the ending.
The show overtook Martin’s novels a couple of seasons ago and the author is still writing the final two novels. Now fans want to know whether the books will follow the same ending as shown in the series or not.
Answering the question, Martin wrote, “How will it all end? The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes.”
Martin also came in defense of the show’s rushed season ending and said creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss had just six episodes to wrap up the story while the manuscripts of his final two novels will have roughly 3000 pages.
He wrote, “I am working in a very different medium than David and Dan, never forget. They had eight hours for this final season. I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3000 manuscript pages between them before I’m done… and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I’ll add them.”
Martin earlier had also expressed frustration at the show’ rushed ending and said that for a proper conclusion, the show should have had five more seasons.
