TENNIS- Swiss 20 time grand slam champion Roger Federer has pulled out of Rome Masters with a right leg injury, a day after playing two matches.
World number 3 Federer was due to face Greek eighth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas for a place in the semi-finals.
Federer said in a statement, “I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete today. I am not 100% physically and after consultation with my team, it was determined that I not play. Rome has always been one of my favorite cities to visit and I hope to be back next year.”
Earlier today, women’s world number 1 Naomi Osaka pulled out of the tournament with a hand injury.
