CRICKET- Indian selectors have picked Dinesh Kartik over Rishabh Pant as the second wicketkeeper in the 15 member squad for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup.
The idea to leave in form Pant behind irked many but now skipper Virat Kohli has clarified why Kartik was preferred over Pant.
"In pressure situations, he's shown composure," Virat Kohli told the Times of India about Karthik. "It was something that everybody on board was convinced about.
"He has the experience. If, god forbid, something happens to MS (Dhoni), Karthik can be immensely valuable behind the wickets. As a finisher, he's done well.”
India begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa in Southampton on June 5. The World Cup starts in England and Wales on May 30.
