In the case pertaining to the rape of a girl at Khuda Lahora in which a constable of the Chandigarh Police was falsely implicated, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in the latest development has called Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nilambri Jagdale for non- compliance of the order in case of a contempt petition filed by constable, Jagtar Singh.

It shall be noted that Jagtar Singh was booked for allegedly raping a girl in 2014 but he was acquitted by the court. He later on filed a petition in CAT seeking to be reinstated as he was acquitted in the case. The court had ordered the UT police in 2017 if they want to take action against Singh, then they should follow the Rule 12.21 of the Punjab Police Services by holding a departmental inquiry against him. The Chandigarh Police, however, moved the High Court against the tribunal order. But they failed to get stay from the court.
