Mi-Pay payments app has been launched in India. Xiaomi at the Redmi Go launch event on Tuesday the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) based payments app in the country.
Xiaomi has partnered National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and ICICI Bank to launch Mi Pay in India. Users can make payments to other Mi Pay users, or through UPI ID and bank accounts as well. Xiaomi also offers QR code option for transactions on Mi-Pay.
Mi-Pay has instead been integrated within the native SMS, Contacts, App Vault, and Camera scanner apps. Apart from money transfer, the UPI-based Mi Pay app also supports recharges and bill payments. These features match those available from other major UPI-based payments apps in the country, such as Google Pay and PhonePe.
The Mi Pay UPI-based payments app will also be available as a payments option on Mi.com as well as the Mi Store app, Xiaomi announced at the Redmi Go launch event.
In India, Xiaomi will be competing with top players like Paytm, Google Pay and WhatsApp’s in-built payment system.
Xiaomi announced the launch of Mi-Pay at the launch event of its new entry-level smartphone in India. Redmi Go is Xiaomi’s first Android Go smartphone.
