STOCKHOLM- Sweden has recalled its ambassador to China, Anna Lindstedt, over her involvement in a meeting involving Angela Gui, daughter of detained Swedish Chinese bookseller Gui Minhai.

54-year-old Gui Minhai, one of five Hong Kong-based booksellers, was allegedly abducted by Chinese agents in 2015.

Ms Gui said she was contacted by Ms Lindstedt last month with an invitation to a meet a group of Chinese businessmen who said they had connections to the Chinese Communist Party and can help secure her father’s release.

The Swedish foreign ministry recalled Lindstedt on Wednesday and said it had no advance knowledge of the meeting. Ms Lindstedt will now be subjected to an internal investigation.
