CRICKET- Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has stepped down as the coach of Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Brisbane Heat.

Vettori reportedly informed the team management about his decision to quit earlier this season.

Brisbane Heat general manager Andrew McShea thanked Vettori for being a part of the squad and said his departure marks the end of an era.

“It’s an end of an era for the Heat with both Brendon McCullum and now Dan leaving our club and we can only express our deepest gratitude to both men for their passion and dedication to the Heat during their time with us.”

Vettori was associated with the team since its inception. BBL is currently in its ninth season and Vettori had been Brisbane Heat’s captain since the last four seasons.
