CRICKET- Pakistan’s Yasir Shah broke an 82 year old Test record to become the fastest ever to take 200 wickets in Test matches.

He reached the milestone in his 33rd Test and on the Day 4 of the final Test against New Zealand.

Yasir, 32, dismissed Will Somerville in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, beating Australian leg-spinner Clarrie Grimmett’s mark of 36 Tests achieved against South Africa in Johannesburg in 1936.

“Grimmett? I don’t know much about him,” said Yasir. “He played so many years ago, but I know about the record because his name comes first whenever I see the list.”

Yasir was also the fastest Pakistani to 50 wickets (nine Tests), reached 100 wickets in 17 Tests - second only to Englishman George Lohmann.
