FOOTBALL- Croatia's Luka Modric is being considered the best bet to end the 10 year duopoly of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on the coveted Ballon d’Or award.
Both Messi and Roanldo have won the award five times each in last 10 years.
Paris Saint-Germain's teenage forward Kylian Mbappe, Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann and Madrid's Champions League-winning defender Raphael Varane, Hugo Lloris, Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante are all in running for the award.
The winner of 2018 Ballon d’or will be announced just after 10pm (2100 GMT) at the Grand Palais on Monday evening. The award is organised by France Football magazine and voted for by 180 journalists from around the world.
A women's Ballon d'Or prize will also be presented to the best female football player.
