SURABAYA- Police in Indonesia’s Surabaya arrested four people on Thursday over an alleged baby-selling operation using Instagram.
As per police reports, an Instagram account posing as a family welfare agency used to post images of pregnant women, ultrasound scans and babies.
Potential buyers would contact the site using WhatsApp numbers.
"People who want to adopt children use that account and the transaction is completed through WhatsApp," said Col Sudamiran, Surabaya's chief detective.
Police intercepted a transaction that was that was due to have taken place on 3 September and arrested four people linked with that particular transaction. They are still looking for the sold child.
