6 magnitude earthquake claims lives of 3 people in Indonesia's Java, rattles Bali

NUSA DUA- On Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said that a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, claiming lives of 3 people in Java and damaging some buildings while causing panic among residents.

The earthquake, located in the Bali Sea, also shook buildings on the resort island and some residents briefly left their homes in Bali's capital, Denpasar.  

A spokesman for Indonesia's disaster mitigation agency in a statement said that the 3 deaths in East Java occurred after buildings collapsed while people were sleeping, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.
