TENNIS- Local favourite Kei Nishikori, seeded third, defeated fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-3 to reach the semi-final of Japan Open on Friday.

“I played well from start to finish,” said Nishikori after the win. “I was returning well, which meant I could serve relaxed. I was picking the ball up early, seeing it big and being aggressive. Hopefully now I can go even further.”

Nishikori will next face the winner of the match between second seed Kevin Anderson or France’s Richard Gasquet.
