Yet another achievement of Chandigarh and the nation as a whole as a 16 year old shooter Udhayveer Sidhu has made the entire sports fraternity proud by clinching both an individual and team gold in the Junion men’s sports pistol in the 52nd World Shooting Championship held at Changwon, South Korea. With this, India’s total medal tally in the championship reached 27.

Udhayveer shot 587 out of 600 to win an individual gold. Apart from this, the Indian team comprising Udhayveer (581), his twin brother Vijayveer Sidhu (568) and Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu also won the team gold with a combined score of 1,736.

Coached by DS Chandel at the Panjab University Shooting range, the twin brothers have also made the nation proud earlier this year by winning bronze in 25m pistol and team gold with a new world record and team bronze in the 10m air pistol at the ISSF Junior Shooting World Cup in Germany.

Udhayveer hails from Mansa, however his family shifted to Chandigarh a few years ago for ensuring better facilities to their sons in the shooting field.
