Another cyber crime, Fake friendship club duped student of Rs 4 Lakh

After the card cloning cases reported in the city raised threat among the residents, another case of cybercrime has been reported in the city in which a student of BSc claimed to be duped of Rs 4 lakh by a fake friendship club.

The student alleged that he saw an advertisement in newspaper stating that a person could earn anything between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000 daily by becoming member of a friendship club. Swayed by the club advertisement, the student was duped of approximately Rs 4 lakh.

As per the complainant, the fraudsters running the club asked him to pay various amounts towards membership fee, cost of medical tests and security deposit, all adding up to Rs 3.8 lakh. The fraudsters also tried to sway him by saying that high-profile married women, models and college girls were members of the club and he could make a lot of money by befriending them after taking the membership.

Later on, the fraudster stopped taking his calls and he approached cyber cell. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against unknown persons. Cyber cell has also arrested Krishan Kumar, one of the accused from Kurukshetra.
