A day after Chandigarh Municipal Corporation took over all the parking lots in the city after the contract of smart parking firm, Arya Infra Toll stood cancelled due to non-payment of license fee, the Firm has moved High court.
The court finally suspended the MC’s orders after the firm agreed to pay the dues to the civic body. After a huge drama was witnessed, the workers employed by Arya Infra were removed from the booths and were relieved.
The firm has now agreed to pay Rs 1.35 crore immediately and agreed to deposit the pending amount in 15 days. Finally the parking firm has taken over the 25 parking lots once again. Amid this, the MC that has claimed to provide smart parking facilities to residents was seen playing hide and seek with people from the last 5 months. The firm has been asked to resume the contract even after allegations that firm failed to provide smart parking solutions to the city.
Also the parking fee has once again been rolled back to Rs 10 for two wheelers and Rs 20 for four wheelers. It shall be noted that the residents could only enjoy the decreased parking fee for a single day. Meanwhile, all the chaos has landed the cash stripped MC once again in trouble as the firm has now alleged that it had suffered loss as equipment installed at the parking lots had been broken. The firm is now seeking damages of over Rs 60 lakh from the MC.
