On one hand, there is a young golfer, Aadil Bedi who is surprising everyone with his outstanding performance in national and International Golf, there is also another golfer who has been a source of inspiration for the young players including Aadil. Punjab golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar who was felicitated with Arjuna Award in 2003 has embarked on a new journey and is now eyeing the Bank BRI Indonesia Open trophy that is scheduled to begin on July 11.
The 30 year old golfer who hails from Amritsar won the prestigious tournament twice in 2013 and 2016, is looking for the title at the Bank BRI Indonesia Open, which will be held for the third consecutive year at the Pondok Indah Golf Course.
In 2006 the team led by Anirban Lahiri, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Chiragh Kumar and Joseph Chakola has claimed silver in the Asian Games. Apart from this, Gaganjeet Bhullar became the youngest player, at the age of 29, to win eight Asian Tour titles when he emerged victorious at the Macao Open last year.
The Bank BRI opens have always been dream for players across the world. This year, the prize purse has increased to US$500,000. For Indonesian course, Bhullar has a distinct attachment as he claimed his Asian Tour breakthrough at the 2009 Indonesia President Invitational. Out of his eight victories, three were claimed in Indonesia, including the Indonesia Open in 2013 and 2016.
