It has been more than a year since the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has been playing hide and seek with people over the smart parking facility. Once again failing to manage the smart parking firm, Arya Infra toll, MC will have to start from zero to provide smart parking facilities to residents. A day after MC cancelled the contract with Arya Infra, the parking rates were reverted back to the previous ones, thus bringing temporary relief to people.

As per the fresh orders, the F&CC committee decided to end the hourly fee and will charge Rs 5 for parking of two-wheelers and Rs 10 for four-wheeler at a flat rate from July 11. Besides, the monthly pass facility has been scrapped for the time being. MC at present is not providing any smart parking facility to residents and is still charging rates higher that the initial rates when no smart parking facility was there.

Congress Councillor Devinder Singh Babla has also raised the issue to lower the rates of parking further to Rs 2 and Rs 5 for two wheelers and four Wheelers respectively.
