GYMNASTICS- India’s leading gymnast Dipa Karmakar won gold medal in the vault event of the Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin, Turkey on Sunday. This is her first medal in a World Challenge Cup.
Karmakar returned to competitive gymnast after a long lay-off of nearly two years due to injury. She missed 2018 Commonwealth Games because of the injury.
Dipa has also qualified in balance beam finals by finishing third in the qualification with a score of 11.850.
Dipa, 24, is part of 10-member Indian gymnastics team for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Indonesia in August-September.
