CRICKET- The 15 member Indian squad for the upcoming ICC ODI world Cup has been announced and there are some upsets in the form of Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu who were not included in the team.
The team will be led by Virat Kohli. Dinesh Kartik has been named as the second wicket-keeper besides MS Dhoni over the spirited Pant.
Vijay Shankar was included in the team as an all-rounder along with Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Kedar Jadhav. In the bowling department, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami have been named.
“To begin with, KL Rahul will be the reserve opener. If need arises, the team management will take a call on him playing in the middle-order” – selector MSK Prasad.
The reserved players are to be announced later today so there is still hope for Pant and Rayudu. It is worth noting that the squads are still provisional and changes can be made up until 23 May.
The World Cup will be starting on May 30 in United Kingdom, a few days after conclusion of IPL on May 12.
