TENNIS- Swiss world number two Roger Federer suffered a stunning five set Wimbledon quarter-final loss at the hands of South American Kevin Anderson on Wednesday.
Federer blew a two point lead to loss 6-2, 7-6(5), 5-7, 4-6, 11-13 in a nail biting four hour and 13 minute classic.
“To be honest, I didn’t feel mental fatigue (during the match). Now I feel horribly fatigued and just awful,” Federer said after the loss.
A”s the match went on, I couldn’t surprise him any more. That’s a bad feeling to have.
“I couldn’t come up with enough good stuff for him to miss more. I think that was the key at the end.
“It’s just terrible. But that’s how it goes, you know. I didn’t see it coming.”
Anderson is now up against American John Isner in the semi-final.
