Hong Kong actor Simon Lam stabbed at event in China

Veteran Hong Kong actor and film producer Simon Lam has been stabbed while attending an event in southern China.

Lam was stabbed in the stomach on Saturday and also had a cut on his right hand. He underwent a minor operation for the injuries at a hospital in Zhongshan city.

Police has detained a suspect but the motive behind the stabbing is unclear.

Lam, 64, had played villain Chen Lo in the 2003 Hollywood film "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life."
