Darren and Carolyn Carter of Edmonton, Alberta have faced severed criticism in the last couple of days for kissing each other beside a slain lion they had just shot during a safari in Africa.
The couple posted the picture on Facebook and captioned it, “Hard work in the hot Kalahari sun… well done. A monster lion.”
Another photo of the couple posing in front of another dead lion were captioned: “There is nothing like hunting the king of the jungle in the sands of the Kalahari. Well done to the happy huntress and the team...”
While animal rights activists and social media users have called them murderers, Darren’s own daughter too took to YouTube to express her disgust.
In a ten minute long video, she said, “That just make me sick. I’m someone who loves animals and I never want anyone to hurt them. To know that my own father does that, I don’t even consider you my dad anymore.”
The Carters were part of a tour organised by Legelela Safaris. They run a taxidermy business and describe themselves as “passionate conservationists”.
