TV- Filming for the highly anticipated prequel to hit HBO show Game of Thrones has quietly begun in Northern Ireland.

Multiple prequel spin-offs of Game of Thrones are in pipeline and are expected to take place thousands of years before the events of the original show.

"There’s no King's Landing. There's no Iron Throne. There are no Targaryens — Valyria has hardly begun to rise yet with its dragons and the great empire that it built. We’re dealing with a different and older world and hopefully that will be part of the fun of the series," author George RR Martin earlier informed.

The prequel will feature Naomi Watts, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Miranda Richardson, Josh Whitehouse, and Jamie Campbell Bower.

An official title for the prequel is yet to be confirmed. Game of Thrones concluded its eight season run in May this year.
